Summoning is a complex skill that allows you to invoke many types of assistance from a wide variety of creatures. Familiars have unique abilities - they may be able to assist you in a fight, boost your combat or skill levels, collect materials at random, and in some cases even carry items for you! Lower level familiars are useful to players with lower overall skills.
